April Gwangan

Number of current instructors: 6

Number of current students: 184

The Centum City branch of April English is in one of the most popular areas of the city, close to the beach and the famous Gwangali Bridge. There is a vibrant nightlife especially in the summer months and there are plenty of al fresco style bars and beach parties in the warmer weather. Gwangan is also right next door to Haeundae, another famous coastal location with white sands and outdoor markets

I’ve been working here at the Centum Branch of April English for almost 10 months now, and have been the HI for a little less than that. My experiences at Centum and in South Korea overall have been very positive. This is my first time living in a foreign country and the first time I have ever been to Asia. In addition, I had never taught before coming here. Despite all that, I have really grown accustomed to and enjoyed the lifestyle of a teacher living in Busan. CDI is a great company to work for if you have never taught before. The training and structure of the classes make a smooth transition into teaching. And the welcoming attitude of the people makes it seem like you aren’t actually living halfway around the world.

Our branch opened on January 2nd, 2008 and since then the school has grown in both number of students and teachers. We now have 3 foreign teachers and 3 Korean teachers and are expecting to keep growing. The school itself is located in one of the nicer and newer areas of Busan. Living by the school also means you live near the beach (Haeundae OR Gwangali), which is always nice. Even if beaches aren’t your thing, there is plenty to do in the area, and the school is right down the street from the subway stop.
